This week’s question comes from Oscar, who is wondering about the merits of advertising. The question reads:
“I’m just starting to get my business off the ground to the point I can hire a few more hands to handle more work. But in order to sustain a decent profit margin and a new workforce, I will need to attract more clients. Assuming that foot traffic will not magically appear and that referrals will not bring in a steady inflow, I will have to start some sort of advertising campaign to get more customers to stop by the business. But is advertising really worth it? Or maybe the better question is how much is advertising actually worth? And can I really get away without traditional advertising, since the internet and social media is being presented as a ‘magical way to attract clients and sales?’”
And the answer?
